Sweet Pongal


  • Brown Rice ½ of ¼ Kg (soak overnight & cook the next day)
  • Moong dal ½ of ¼ Kg
  • Green cardamom powder ½ tsp
  • Clove 2
  • Ghee 1tsp
  • Raisins 5
  • Date[khajoor] 1
  • Flaxseed powder 1tsp
  • Almonds 4 (roughly chopped)


  1. Roast moong dal in a heavy bottom pan till it turns fragrant. Add water and cook well till soft then add cooked brown rice.
  2. When it is completely cooked, add date and mash mixture, add green cardamom powder.
  3. Mix and cook on a medium flame.
  4. Make a separate tempering, heat a pan with ghee, add clove and switch off the stove then add raisins, almonds, and flax seed powder.
  5. Stir in this to the rice mix and serve.
