Sambar

Ingredients

  • Tur dal (Soaked for 1hr) – ¼ k
  • Drumsticks( boiled) – 1/2 stick
  • Tomato & Onion (each chopped) – ½k
  • Cubed Mixed Veges (dudhi, brinjal, pumpkin, baby corn) – 1K
  • Oil – 1 tsp, Curry leaves – 4
  • Asafoetida, Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Tamarind pulp Sambar Masala – 1tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli-1
  • Chilli Powder -1tsp
  • Turmeric powder (Haldi) – A pinch, Chopped coriander (Dhania)-1/2 tsp

Method

  1. Take oil in pressure cooker, heat oil, mustard seeds let them flutter, add curry leaves, asafoetida, dry red chilli & add onion, saute  it for a while.
  2. Add tomatoes and other veggies and sauté.
  3. Add salt, turmeric powder, sambar masala, chilli powder and tur dal add 2 cups water and pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistles.
  4. Open and add boiled drumstick and tamarind pulp and let it simmer on low flame for 5 mins.
  5. Add coriander and serve hot.
