Pumpkin Dal

Ingredients

  • Tur dal + Chana dal (raw) – 1 Tbsp
  • Red pumpkin (bhopla) – 1 Kg (Cubed)
  • Cinnamon 1- inch stick
  • Cloves – 1
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Tamarind pulp – 1 tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves chopped – 1 tbsp
  • Water as required

Method

  1. Pressure cook both the dals with1- 1.5L of water, salt, & turmeric powder and cook for 2 to 3 whistles or till completely cooked.
  2. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, cloves, cinnamon, red pumpkin, salt & tamarind pulp, cover and cook till done.
  3. Add red chilli powder, cooked dals & adjust seasoning.
  4. Let it boil for few seconds.
  5. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves.
