Oats Upma

Ingredients

  • Oats powdered in a mixer – ¼ cup
  • Sarson (mustard seeds) – pinch
  • Dry red chilli – 1
  • Urad  dal – pinch
  • Curry leaves (optional) – few
  • Water – ½ cup
  • Tomato chopped – ½ cup
  • Salt – to taste
  • Chopped capsicum & frenchbeans – 2 tsp
  • Lemon juice – few drops
  • Coriander

Method

  1. Heat a clean heavy bottomed pan. Add mustard seeds, dry red chilli, urad dal and curry leaves.
  2. Stir on low heat till dal turns light brown.
  3. Add water and salt.
  4. Let it come to a boil.
  5. Keeping the flame low, add chopped tomato, capsicum and French beans.
  6. Add oats gradually with one hand, stirring with the other hand continuously.
  7. Stir fry the upma for 2-3 minutes till dry.
  8. Turn off the fire and add lemon juice and coriander.
  9. Mix well.
  10. Serve hot.
