Ingredients
- Oats powdered in a mixer – ¼ cup
- Sarson (mustard seeds) – pinch
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Urad dal – pinch
- Curry leaves (optional) – few
- Water – ½ cup
- Tomato chopped – ½ cup
- Salt – to taste
- Chopped capsicum & frenchbeans – 2 tsp
- Lemon juice – few drops
- Coriander
Method
- Heat a clean heavy bottomed pan. Add mustard seeds, dry red chilli, urad dal and curry leaves.
- Stir on low heat till dal turns light brown.
- Add water and salt.
- Let it come to a boil.
- Keeping the flame low, add chopped tomato, capsicum and French beans.
- Add oats gradually with one hand, stirring with the other hand continuously.
- Stir fry the upma for 2-3 minutes till dry.
- Turn off the fire and add lemon juice and coriander.
- Mix well.
- Serve hot.
