Oats Falafel

Ingredients

  • Chickpeas (kabuli chana) – 1/4k
  • Oats- 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
  • Roasted cumin seeds – 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder – a pinch
  • Green chilli – 2 to 3
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Dill leaves (suvabhaji) – optional
  • Sesame seeds – 2 tsp
  • Garlic-2 to 3 cloves
  • Lemon juice – ½ tsp
  • Veg oil for shallow frying (if needed)

Method

  1. Grind together cooked chickpeas, coriander seeds, cumin seeds, salt, pepper powder, green chilli, dill leaves, coriander leaves, garlic & lemon juice into a coarse paste.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a bowl, add oats & just enough water to make a stiff dough.
  3. Divide the dough & shape into one-inch ovals & roll some sesame seeds.
  4. Shallow-fry using minimal oil on medium heat, on a nonstick pan till golden brown.
  5. Drain on absorbent paper if needed.
