Millet Pongal

Ingredients

  • Jowar + bajra + Moong dal (raw – soaked overnight) – 1/4 kg
  • Brown rice (raw – soaked overnight) – 2 tsp and 3-4 peppercorns
  • Cumin seeds -½ tsp
  • Green chilli slit – 1
  • Grated ginger-1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves 4-5
  • Diced dudhi + cauliflower + capsicum – 1 kg
  • Asafoetida
  • Turmeric
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1/2 tsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves

Method

  1. Pressure cook all the veggies along with millets, dal and rice with 2 times water for 4 to 5 whistles or till it is mashed.
  2. For tempering heat oil, add cumin seeds, peppercorns, green chilli, ginger, curry leaves and asafoetida.
  3. Add the cooked pongal to the seasoning and mix.
  4. Garnish with coriander.
  5. Serve hot.
