Kaali Dal (140 Cal)

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup urad dal + whole masoor
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • 1 tsp curd (slim milk)
  • Ginger and garlic (grated)
  • 1 dried red chilli
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds pdr
  • Pinch of garam masala
  • ½ tsp oil
  • Red chilli pdr & Salt to taste
  • 1 tej patta

Method

  1. Soak the dal for few hrs.
  2. Put the dal in the cooker along with salt, dried red chillies & garlic.
  3. Pressure-cook for 3 whistles.
  4. Make tomato puree.
  5. Heat oil in a pan & fry the tej patti for a minute.
  6. Add ginger & sauté for half a minute & then add red chilli powder.
  7. Immediately add the tomato puree & let it cook till the oil is on the top layer.
  8. Add cumin powder & garam masala.
  9. After about a minute, add curd.
  10. Pour this mixture on the cooked dal.
  11. Heat the whole dal till boiling.
  12. Add salt as per taste & serve hot.
