Healthy Misal

Ingredients

  • Matki/moth beans + chawli +white vatana – 1/3k
  • Onion – 1/2k
  • Tomatoes chopped – 1 k
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – 1/4tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Lemon juice – few drops
  • Misal masala /powder –  ½ tsp
  • Chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbsp
  • Oil – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste

Method

  1. Soak vatana, chawli and matki overnight and pressure cook.
  2. Other option – you can sprout the matki and then cook.
  3. Make onion and tomato puree.
  4. Heat oil, add the onion and tomato puree, saute properly for 5 mins, add ginger garlic paste, sauté for few minutes.
  5. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, misal powder and salt .
  6. Add 1-1½L water and the cooked pulses.
  7. Boil for few mins.
  8. Squeeze lemon juice and garnish with coriander leaves, finely chopped onions and tomatoes.
  9. Serve hot.
