Daliya Upma


  • Roasted Dalia – ¼ k
  • Oil 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal ½ tsp
  • Rai ¼ tsp
  • 1tsp chopped chillies & ginger
  • Few curry leaves
  • 1 k Vegetables (french beans, carrots, capsicum, onion)
  • 1 big tomato chopped


  1. Soak roasted dalia in warm water for half an hour.  strain it & leave it aside.
  2. Heat oil, add rai & urad dal When it crackles, add chopped onions.
  3. Fry the onions till they turn golden brown.
  4. Add curry leaves, chopped chillies ginger, capsicum, beans, carrot.
  5. Saute all the vegetables for five minutes.
  6. Make a puree of tomatoes add it to the vegetables.
  7. Again fry for a minute. Now add salt to taste.
  8. Now add the dalia. Add 1 cup hot water.
  9. Keep stirring for few minutes till water is soaked and dalia is cooked.
  10. Serve with coriander and mint chutney.
